(House Bill 242)
AN ACT concerning
Vehicle Laws — Driver's License
FOR the purpose of providing for the continued validity
of a driver's license held by a person absent from
the State on active service in the armed forces; and
providing conditions under which the expiration date
of such a license may be extended following the
licensee's discharge or return to the State.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 16-115 of Article
Transportation, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (As
enacted by Chapter_____of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1977) be and it is hereby repealed and
reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
Article - Transportation
16-115.
(a) (1) A license issued under this title
expires on the birth date of the licensee in the fourth
year following the issuance of the license.
(2) Except as otherwise specifically
provided by this section, a license is renewable anytime
within 60 days before its expiration, on the presentation
in person of an application and the payment of the
renewal fee required by § 16-111 of this subtitle.
(b) At least 60 days before a license expires, the
administration shall mail to each licensee, at the last
address of the licensee shown in the records of the
administration, notice of the date on which the license
will expire.
(c) (1) Each licensee shall have his license
renewed in accordance with the schedule set forth in this
