As to subsection (a)(1) of this section, see
Title 26, Subtitle 3 of this article.
As to subsection (a)(6) of this section, see,
also, §25—109 of this subtitle.
As to subsection (c) of this section, see,
also, §21-201(b) of this article.
25-103. RESERVED.
25-104. STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO ADOPT SIGN
MANUAL.
THE STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION SHALL ADOPT A
MANUAL AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR A UNIFORM SYSTEM OF
TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES, CONSISTENT WITH THE PROVISIONS
OF THE MARYLAND VEHICLE LAW, FOR USE ON HIGHWAYS IN
THIS STATE. THIS UNIFORM SYSTEM SHALL CORRELATE WITH
AND, AS FAR AS POSSIBLE, CONFORM TO THE SYSTEM SET FORTH
IN THE MOST RECENT EDITION OF THE MANUAL ON UNIFORM
TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES FOR STREETS AND HIGHWAYS.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §15-104.
In the first sentence of this section, the
overly limited reference to "this subtitle" is
corrected to refer to the Maryland Vehicle
Law, generally. Title 21, "Rules of the
Road", for example, contains many provisions
that must be considered for the statutorily
required consistency.
The only other changes are in style.
25-105. PLACEMENT OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON STATE
HIGHWAYS.
(A) DUTIES OF STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION.
ON EVERY HIGHWAY UNDER ITS JURISDICTION, THE STATE
HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION SHALL PLACE AND MAINTAIN THOSE
TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES THAT IT CONSIDERS NECESSARY TO
CARRY OUT THE PROVISIONS OF THE MARYLAND VEHICLE LAW OR
TO REGULATE, WARN, OR GUIDE TRAFFIC. EACH OF THESE
TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES SHALL CONFORM TO THE MANUAL AND
SPECIFICATIONS OF THE STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION.
(B) PLACEMENT BY LOCAL AUTHORITIES.
A LOCAL AUTHORITY MAY PLACE OR MAINTAIN A TRAFFIC
CONTROL DEVICE ON, A HIGHWAY UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF
THE STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION ONLY WITH THE
PERMISSION AND UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY
ADMINISTRATION.
