THIS SECTION. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §11-804(c). In subsection (a)(1)(i) of this section, the
present reference to a utility "whether
publicly or privately owned" is deleted as
unnecessary. In subsection (a) (1) (ii) of this section, the word "repair" is added for clarity and consistency with the like reference in
subsection (a)(1)(i). In subsection (d) of this section, the term
"farm equipment" is substituted for "implement
of husbandry"; see §11-120 of this article.
Also, the effective date of this subsection,
"July 1, 1971", is deleted as unnecessary. The only other changes are in style. 21-806. SPECIAL SPEED LIMITATIONS FOR SCHOOL BUSES AND
ELEVATED STRUCTURES. (A)   TYPE I SCHOOL VEHICLE (SCHOOL BUS). A PERSON MAY NOT DRIVE A TYPE I SCHOOL VEHICLE
(SCHOOL BUS) AT A SPEED OF MORE THAN 45 MILES AN HOUR
WHILE IT IS CARRYING ANY PASSENGER. (B)   ESTABLISHMENT OF MAXIMUM SAFE SPEED ON BRIDGE
OR OTHER ELEVATED STRUCTURE. (1)    ON REQUEST OF ANY LOCAL AUTHORITY, THE
STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION SHALL INVESTIGATE AND, ON
ITS OWN INITIATIVE, IT MAY INVESTIGATE ANY BRIDGE OR
OTHER ELEVATED STRUCTURE THAT IS A PART OF A HIGHWAY. (2)   IF IT DETERMINES THAT THE STRUCTURE
CANNOT SAFELY WITHSTAND THE HEIGHT OF VEHICLES TRAVELING
AT THE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT OTHERWISE PERMITTED BY THIS
SUBTITLE, THE STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION SHALL: (I)   ESTABLISH THE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT THAT
THE STRUCTURE CAN SAFELY WITHSTAND; AND (II)   AT EACH APPROACH TO THE STRUCTURE, PLACE
OR PERMIT THE PLACEMENT OF A SUITABLE SIGN STATING THE
MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT. (3)   A MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT ESTABLISHED UNDER
THIS SECTION IS EFFECTIVE WHEN POSTED ON APPROPRIATE
SIGNS GIVING NOTICE OF THE LIMIT. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §11-806 (b), (c), and (d).
