LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 205

(B) (1) THERE SHALL BE 17 MEMBERS OF THE
COMMISSION APPOINTED AS REPRESENTING THE FOLLOWING:

(2)    FIVE SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ALLEGANY COUNTY;

(3)    ONE SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE MEMBERS
REPRESENTING ALLEGANY COUNTY OR A PORTION OF THE COUNTY
IN THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES OF MARYLAND;

(4)    ONE SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE MEMBERS
REPRESENTING ALLEGANY COUNTY OR A PORTION OF THE COUNTY
IN THE SENATE OF MARYLAND;

(5)    THREE SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE MAYOR
AND CITY COUNCIL OF CUMBERLAND;                                   

FROSTBURG;

(6) TWO SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE CITY OF

(7) ONE SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE MAYOR AND
COMMISSIONERS OF BARTON;

LONACONING;

(8) ONE SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE TOWN OF

(9)    ONE SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE MAYOR AND
COMMISSIONER OF LUKE;

(10)   ONE SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE TOWN OF
MIDLAND; AND

(11)   ONE SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE MAYOR AND
COMMISSIONER OF WESTERNPORT.

(C) IN APPOINTING THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION,
THE APPOINTING AUTHORITIES SHALL ENDEAVOR TO SELECT THOSE
WHOSE DEVOTION TO THE COUNTY AND ITS PEOPLE, WHOSE
KNOWLEDGE OF GOVERNMENT AND SENSE OF HISTORICAL
PERSPECTIVE AND WHOSE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE ESPECIALLY
EQUIP THEM FOR MEMBERSHIP ON THE COMMISSION AND WILL
ASSURE THAT THE COMMISSION REFLECTS THE SEVERAL INTERESTS
AND REGIONS OF THE COUNTY. THE COMMISSION SHALL PROMOTE
PUBLIC INTEREST IN ITS WORK BY HOLDING PERIODIC PUBLIC
HEARINGS.

(D) THE COMMISSION SHALL BE APPOINTED BY JULY 15,
1976 AND SHALL HOLD ITS FIRST MEETING NO LATER THAN
AUGUST 1, 1976.

(E) [[ONE OF THE MEMBERS APPOINTED BY THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL BE NAMED, FROM TIME TO TIME,
BY THE BOARD TO BE ITS CHAIRMAN.]] ONE OF THE MEMBERS OF
THE COMMISSION SHALL BE NAMED, FROM TIME TO TIME, BY THE
COMMISSION TO BE ITS CHAIRMAN. THE [[BOARD]] COMMISSION
MAY APPOINT A STAFF OF ASSISTANTS AND CONSULTANTS WITHIN
THE LIMITS OF ITS BUDGETARY ALLOWANCES FROM TIME TO TIME.
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL PROVIDE AN OFFICE
