House Bill No. 1164 — Unemployment Insurance Contributions

AN ACT concerning

Unemployment Insurance Law - Collection
of Contributions

FOR the purpose of providing that certain tax provisions
applicable to corporations apply to the payment of
unemployment insurance contributions.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill
1164.

This bill specifies that the unemployment insurance
contribution payments are included within certain tax
provisions applicable to corporations.

Senate Bill 235, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 17, 1976, modifies the
provisions relating to the structure, reorganization,
management, and exercise of powers of corporations,
associations, and other entities. In doing so. Senate
Bill 235 also specifies that unemployment insurance
contribution payments are included within the tax
provisions applicable to corporations.

Since Senate Bill 235 accomplishes the purpose of
House Bill 1164, it is unnecessary for me to sign House
Bill 1164.
