2678 JOINT RESOLUTIONS No. 46
Resources are requested to form a [State Department of
Transportation] Task Force [[is requested]] to formulate
recommendations for consolidating within one State agency
the authority to regulate and supervise the transporting
of hazardous materials through Maryland; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That in formulating its recommendations
the [State Department of Transportation] Task Force
consult all of the State agencies which are concerned
with the regulation and supervision of the transporting
of hazardous materials through Maryland; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the recommendations of the [State
Department of Transportation] Task Force provide for a
coordinated response plan for handling emergencies
arising from the storage and transporting of hazardous
materials; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the recommendations developed by the
[State Department of Transportation ] Task Force provide
for intensive training programs for personnel involved in
the inspection and handling of hazardous materials to
enable them to effectively enforce existing hazardous
materials regulations; and be it further
RESOLVED, That these recommendations be jointly
approved by the Department of Transportation, the
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the
Department of Natural Resources, and, shall be submitted
to the General Assembly by the 1977 Legislative Session;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to
the Honorable Harry R. Hughes, Secretary of the
Department of Transportation, P.O. Box 8755, Baltimore —
Washington International Airport, Maryland 21240; and Mr.
William L. Carson, Director of the Division of
Transportation Safety, Maryland Department of
Transportation, P.O. Box 8755, Baltimore - Washington
International Airport, Maryland 21240.
