AN ACT concerning

Refuse Trucks — Weight Limits
AA 703A-76

FOR the purpose of providing in Anne Arundel County that
certain refuse trucks are exempt from certain weight
limits, with a proviso.

BY adding to

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws

Section 14-108.1

Annotated code of Maryland

(1970 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 14-108.1 be and it is hereby
added to Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume and 1975
Supplement) to read as follows:

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws

14-108.1.

IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, GARBAGE AND REFUSE TRUCKS
WHICH COLLECT ON A FIXED ROUTE AND ARE OWNED BY OR DOING
BUSINESS WITH ANY GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY IN THE COUNTY ARE
ALLOWED A 10 PERCENT TOLERANCE ON THE AXLE WEIGHT
LIMITATIONS PERTAINING TO THE REAR AXLE, WHEN THE
OVERWEIGHT IS ATTRIBUTABLE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, AS LONG
AS THE TRUCK DOES NOT EXCEED THE REGISTERED GROSS WEIGHT
LIMIT. PRIVATELY OWNED TRUCKS ARE EXEMPT ONLY WHILE
ACTUALLY DOING THE BUSINESS OF THE GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.
