Section 36F

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1975 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 36F be and it is hereby added
to Article 77 — Public Education, of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1975 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)
to read as follows:

Article 77 — Public Education

36F.

[[THE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION SHALL PROVIDE
TRANSPORTATION FOR ALL PUBLIC SCHOOL PUPILS WHO LIVE MORE
THAN ONE MILE FROM THE SCHOOL IN THE DISTRICT. BALTIMORE
COUNTY SHALL PAY ANY COSTS OF TRANSPORTATION NOT PAID BY

THE STATE.]] ANY LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN THE STATE MAY

PROVIDE, AT ITS OWN EXPENSE, TRANSPORTATION FOR ALL

PUBLIC SCHOOL PUPILS BEYOND THAT TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED
BY THE STATE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
[[shall take effect July 1, 1976.]] is hereby declared

to be an emergency measure and necessary for the

immediate preservation of the public health and safety
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by

three—fifths of all the members elected to each of the

two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take

effect from the date of its passage.

(House Bill 2166)

AN ACT concerning

St. Mary's County — Volunteer Fire Companies

FOR the purpose of permitting the County Commissioners of
St. Mary's County to make loans from the county
treasury, or borrow money and then loan it to the
volunteer fire companies in the county; requiring
the County Commissioners to adopt, by ordinance or
resolution, governing criteria and regulations
concerning the issuance and repayment of these
loans; and prohibiting these loans from exceeding a
certain amount.
