hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 77 — Public Education

172.

(a) (2) Boards of library trustees shall consist
of seven members[. Subsequent to July 1, 1971, board
members] MHO shall serve overlapping terms of [not more
than] five years. [Subsequent to July 1, 1971, board]
BOARD members [shall] MAY not serve [for] more than ten
consecutive years, [even though their terms of office
began prior to July 1, 1971. No] A person is NOT
eligible to serve more than two consecutive terms. Board
members shall hold office until their successors qualify.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Section 172(a)(8) be and it is hereby added to Article 77
- Public Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1975 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) to read as
follows:

Article 77 — Public Education

172.

(a)        (8)        BOARD MEMBERS SHALL RESIDE IN THE COUNTY

WHICH IS SERVED BY THE MEMBER'S BOARD.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.
