Vehicle Laws — [[Permanent]] Special Registration Plates

FOR the purpose of authorizing the Motor Vehicle
Administrator to issue [[permanent]] special trailer
and semitrailer registration plates to certain
owners of those vehicles under certain conditions.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws

Section 3-608[[(a)]]

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1970 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 3-608[[(a)]] of Article 66 1/2 -
Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws

3-60 8.

(a)    The owner of a fleet of trailers or
semitrailers [consisting of 25 or more vehicles which are
rented or offered for rent for periods of 364 days or
less] may apply to the Administrator for registration in
accordance with the provisions of this section[.] UNDER
THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

(1)    IF THE FLEET CONSISTS OF 25 OR MORE
CLASS G VEHICLES WHICH ARE RENTED OR OFFERED FOR RENT FOR
PERIODS OF 364 DAYS OR LESS; OR

(2)    IF THE FLEET CONSISTS OF FIVE OR MORE
CLASS G VEHICLES THAT ARE IN EXCESS OF 10,000 POUNDS
MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT.

(b)    The application shall be made on a form and

contain information as prescribed by the Administrator.

Upon payment of required fees and upon meeting other

requirements prescribed by the Administrator, there shall
be issued, to each vehicle for which application has been

made, a special [permanent] registration plate and

registration card.

(c)    The registration plate and the__registration

card shall [not] bear an expiration date AS FIXED BY THE
ADMINISTRATOR and shall be valid as long as ownership of
the vehicle to which they are issued is retained by the

applicant OR AT THE EXPIRATION DATE WHICHEVER COMES

FIRST, provided that an annual renewal application is

made by the owner IN THE CASE WHERE__REGISTRATION__PLATES

HAVE BEEN ISSUED ON A PRORATED FEE BASIS, and the

required annual fees are paid prior to the date on which
