AN ACT concerning

Assault — Employees of Institutions

FOR the purpose of providing that the penalty for assault
on a Division of Correction employee applies also to
an assault on an employee of the Patuxent
Institution.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

Section 11E

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1971 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 11E of Article 27 - Crimes and
Punishments, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments

11E.

Every inmate convicted of assault on [a Division of
Correction employee] AN EMPLOYEE OF THE DIVISION OF
CORRECTION OR THE PATUXENT INSTITUTION, regardless of
employment capacity, shall be sentenced to a sentence to
run consecutive to the sentence under which the inmate
was originally confined and the sentence may not be
suspended.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
