(House Bill 1522)

AN ACT concerning

Higher Education - Community College Tuition

FOR the purpose of permitting Community Colleges trustees
to waive tuition charges for certain persons[[; and
requiring the charge of only the basic residential
rate to certain persons]].

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 77A — Higher Education

Section 1(j-1)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1975 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 1(j-1) of Article 77A - Higher
Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 77A — Higher Education

1.

(j—1) (A) The board of trustees of a community
college may waive the tuition charge of a person who has
attained the age of 60 years and who is a resident of the
[[State for enrollment in [the] community [college
serving his residential district for any class offered by
that community college which has at least ten regularly
enrolled students. Such] COLLEGES. THOSE persons shall
be included in the computation of full—time equivalent
students for the purposes of funding under § 7 of this
article.

(B) COMMUNITY COLLEGES MAY NOT CHARGE ANY PERSON
OVER THE AGE OF 65 MORE THAN THE RESIDENTIAL RATE FOR

CLASSES ATTENDED.]] STATE FOR ENROLLMENT IN THE

COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOR ANY CLASS OFFERED BY THAT COMMUNITY

COLLEGE WHICH HAS AT LEAST TEN REGULARLY ENROLLED

STUDENTS. THOSE PERSONS SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE

COMPUTATION OF FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT STUDENTS FOR THE

PURPOSE OF FUNDING UNDER § 7 OF THIS ARTICLE.
