Article 89C — Support of Dependents

14.

(b) [In] IF the [event] DIVISION OF CHILD SUPPORT
ENFORCEMENT OR A PERSON WHOM THE DIVISION APPROVES FOR
CHILD SUPPORT SERVICES IS the petitioner [makes oath that
she is without sufficient funds to obtain personal
counsel, it shall be the duty of the counsel to the
county commissioners to act without charge to the
petitioner on her behalf; provided, however, that in Anne
Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Harford
County, Howard County, Wicomico and Worcester counties,
the State's attorney shall act as the petitioner's
counsel in such instance], THE PETITIONEE SHALL BE
REPRESENTED AS PROVIDED IN ARTICLE 88A, §59(D).

17.

The DIVISION OF CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT OF THE
State [Department of] Social Services ADMINISTRATION is
[hereby designated as] the State Information Agency under
this article[,] and [it] shall:

(1)   Compile a list of the courts and their
addresses in this State having jurisdiction under this
article and transmit the same to the State Information
Agency of every other state which has adopted this or a
substantially similar act[ , and];

(2)   Maintain a register of [such] THE lists
received from other states and transmit copies [thereof]
OF THE LIST as soon as possible after receipt to every
court in this State having jurisdiction under this
article[.]; AND

(3)    TRANSMIT TO THE COURT IN THIS STATE
HAVING JURISDICTION OVER AN OBLIGOR OR HIS PROPERTY ANY
PETITION, CERTIFICATE, COPY OF ACTS, OR OTHER DOCUMENT
THAT IT RECEIVES FROM COURTS OR INFORMATION AGENCY OF
OTHER STATES.

18.

(a) (1) After the court of this State acting as a
responding state has received from the court of the
initiating state the aforesaid copies the clerk of the
court shall docket the case and [notify the State's
attorney] GIVE NOTICE of his action TO THE OBLIGEE'S
REPRESENTATIVE.

(2)        THE OBLIGEE SHALL BE REPRESENTED BY THE

STATE'S ATTORNEY, EXCEPT THAT, IF THE COMPLAINANT OR
PETITIONER IS A PUBLIC AGENCY TO WHICH SUPPORT EIGHTS
HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED OR AN INDIVIDUAL WHOSE PETITION IS
BROUGHT AS PART OF CHILD SUPPORT RECOVERY SERVICES OF A
PUBLIC AGENCY, THE COMPLAINANT OR PETITIONER SHALL BE
REPRESENTED AS PROVIDED IN ARTICLE 88A, §59 (D).
