BY adding to
Article 77A — Higher Education
Section 83 through [[39]] 91 to be under the new
subtitle "Maryland Statewide Medical
Education and Training System"

Preamble
WHEREAS, There is a serious need throughout the
State of Maryland for greater numbers of [[practicing]]
primary care physicians [[in]] and allied health care
professionals; and
WHEREAS, The University of Maryland School of
Medicine finds it difficult to satisfy the
ever—increasing demand for qualified persons to deliver
these health care services; and
WHEREAS, The public and private institutions of
higher education and the community hospitals throughout
the State of Maryland are [[capable of absorbing
additional]] a major educational resource [[students for
training]] for training students in [[the]] these health
care services; and
[[WHEREAS, Building a medical school would require a
long delay before increasing the number of graduating
physicians, and would cost a great amount; and]]
WHEREAS, Multiple [[medical]] health education and
training centers will attract students, interns, and
residents to the several geographic areas, thereby
attracting increased numbers of practicing physicians,
encouraging development of health care facilities,
providing for the training of additional numbers of
allied [[ medical personnel]], health care professionals
and increasing capabilities for the existing program of
graduate and continuing medical education and health
training; therefore,
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Sections 83 through [[39]] 91 to be
under the new subtitle "Maryland Statewide Medical
Education and Training System" be and they are hereby
added to Article 77A — Higher Education, of the Annotated
Coda of Maryland (1975 Replacement Volume and 1975
Supplement) to read as follows:
