In case of a vacancy in the office of the Bank
Commissioner from any cause, or during the disability or
absence of that officer, the deputy commissioner shall
perform the duties of that office until his successor is
duly appointed and qualified, or until the removal of
such disability or the absence of the Commissioner.] ]]

this Act shall take effect July 1, 1976.

AN ACT concerning

Elections — Certificate of Candidacy

FOR the purpose of changing the time period for
withdrawal of a certificate of candidacy; and
changing the deadline for declination of a
nomination in an election year in which the Governor
is elected.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 9-1(a)(1) and (b) of Article 33 -
Election Code, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and they are
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

(a) (1) Whenever any person who has filed a
certificate of candidacy for nomination in any primary
election shall, in a writing signed by him, and
