AN ACT concerning

Drug Abuse Administration

FOR the purpose of transferring [[all]] certain employees
of the Drug Abuse Administration who are presently
in unclassified State positions to the State Merit
System.

BY adding to

Article 43B — Comprehensive Drug Abuse Control

and Rehabilitation
Section 1A(f)

Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section lA(f) be and it is hereby
added to Article 43B — Comprehensive Drug Abuse Control
and Rehabilitation, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) to read as
follows:

Article 43B — Comprehensive Drug Abuse Control
and Rehabilitation

1A.

(F) ALL PERSONS WHO ARE, AS OF APRIL 1, 1976,
EMPLOYEES BELOW THE LEVEL OF DIRECTOR OF THE DRUG ABUSE
ADMINISTRATION, ARE TRANSFERRED TO THE MERIT SYSTEM IN
THE OFFICE, POSITION, AND CLASSIFICATION WHICH THEY HOLD
AS OF APRIL 1, 1976[[.]]; PROVIDED THAT THESE EMPLOYEES

MEET THE ESTABLISHED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.___THOSE

INDIVIDUALS NOT MEETING THESE__QUALIFICATIONS__SHALL BE

TRANSFERRED WITHOUT__FURTHER EXAMINATION AT SUCH TIME AS

THESE QUALIFICATIONS ARE MET, AND THEY ARE TO BE GRANTED
RETROACTIVE CLASSIFIED SERVICE CREDITS FOR TENURE FOR
THEIR YEARS OF SERVICE IN UNCLASSIFIED POSITIONS [[AT THE
DRUG ABUSE ADMINISTRATION. THESE EMPLOYEES ARE HEREBY
CONFIRMED IN THE OFFICE, POSITION, AND CLASSIFICATION
WHICH THEY HOLD AS OF APRIL 1, 1976 AS OFFICERS AND
EMPLOYEES OF THE DRUG ABUSE ADMINISTRATION UNTIL THEY
