(B) ALTERNATIVE AND EQUIVALENT FIRE AND SAFETY
REQUIREMENTS SHALL BE PERMITTED IN ACUTE CARE HOSPITALS
IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED CODES
AND STANDARDS PROMULGATED BY THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITY
HAVING JURISDICTION.

(C) THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBTITLE DO NOT APPLY

TO WASHINGTON COUNTY.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.

AN ACT concerning

Mandatory Capital Punishment

FOR the purpose of altering the enumeration of crimes for
which a convicted person shall be sentenced to
death; and giving this Act a prospective effect.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments

Section 413(b)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1971 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED    BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

MARYLAND, That Section 413(b)    of Article 27 - Crimes and

Punishments, of the Annotated      Code of Maryland (1971

Replacement Volume and 1975      Supplement) be and it is

hereby repealed and reenacted,    with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

413.

(b) Every person who is convicted of murder in the
first degree shall be sentenced to death if:

(1) He is found by the trier of fact to have
been the person who actually committed an act which
proximately caused the victim's death; and
