LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 543

MARYLAND, (Three-fifths of all the members elected to
each of the two Houses concurring), That the following be
and the same is hereby proposed as an amendment to
Section 1A of Article II — Executive Department, of the
Constitution of Maryland, the same, if adopted by the
legally qualified voters of the State, as herein
provided, to become a part of the Constitution of
Maryland:

Article II — Executive Department

1A.

There shall be a Lieutenant Governor, who shall have
only the duties delegated to him by the Governor and
shall have such compensation as the General Assembly
shall provide by law, EXCEPT THAT BEGINNING IN THE YEAR
1978 THE SALARY OF THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR SHALL BE AS
PROVIDED UNDER SECTION 21A OF THIS ARTICLE. No person
who is ineligible under this Constitution to be elected
Governor shall be eligible to hold the office of
Lieutenant Governor.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, (Three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses
concurring), That the following be and the same is hereby
proposed as an amendment to Section 21 of Article II —
Executive Department, of the Constitution of Maryland,
the same, if adopted by the legally qualified voters of
the State, as herein provided, to become a part of the
Constitution of Maryland:

Article II - Executive Department

21.

The Governor shall reside at the seat of government,
and, from and after the fourth Wednesday in January 1967,
shall receive for his services an annual salary of
Twenty-five Thousand Dollars, EXCEPT THAT BEGINNING IN
THE YEAR 1978 THE SALARY OF THE GOVERNOR SHALL BE AS
PROVIDED IN SECTION 21A OF THIS ARTICLE.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, (Three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses
concurring), That, the following be and the same is hereby
proposed as an addition to the Constitution of Maryland,
by adding new Section 21A to Article II — Executive
Department, the same, if adopted by the legally qualified
voters of the State, as herein provided, to become a part
of the Constitution of Maryland:
