AN ACT concerning

Motor Vehicles — Initial Points

FOR the purpose of altering the imposition of points for
violation of certain motor vehicle laws.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws

Section 6-402 (a)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1970 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 6-402 (a) of Article 66 1/2 -
Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

6-402.

(a) Initial points shall be assessed as follows:

Any moving violation not listed below and not
contributing to an accident.......................1 point

Speeding in excess of the posted speed limit by 10
miles per hour or more...........................2 points

DRIVING WITH AN IMPROPER CLASS OF LICENSE...2 POINTS

Any moving violation contributing to an
accident.........................................3 points

Speeding in excess of the posted speed limit by 30
miles per hour or more...........................5 points

Reckless driving............................4 points

Driving without a license [for out of
classification]]................................5 points

ANY VIOLATION OF §6-304 OR §6-305 OF THIS SUBTITLE..
................................................ 5 POINTS

Failure to report an accident...............5 points

Failure to stop for a school bus with alternately
flashing red lights..............................2 points
