Ch. 483

to Article 73B — Pensions, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) to
read as follows:

Article 73B — Pensions

20A.

ALL STATE EMPLOYEES ORDER THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM
SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH A PRERETIREMENT COUNSELING SERVICE
REGARDING RETIREMENT BENEFITS. THE COUNSELING ALSO SHALL
BE AVAILABLE TO [[ALL]] THE SPOUSE OR MEMBERS OF THE
IMMEDIATE FAMILY OF A RETIREE [[OR THE SPOUSE OF A
RETIREE]] , WITH THE CONSENT OF THE RETIREE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.

Law-Enforcement Officers' Bill of Rights

FOR the purpose of amending the definition of
law—enforcement officer; and clarifying language.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments

Section 727 (b)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1971 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED    BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

MARYLAND, That Section 727(b)     of Article 27 - Crimes and

Punishments, of the Annotated      Code of Maryland (1971

Replacement Volume and 1975      Supplement) be and it is

hereby repealed and reenacted,    with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments
727.

(b) "Law-enforcement officer" means any person
who, in his official capacity, is authorized by law to
make arrests and who is a member of one of the following
