AN ACT concerning

Director of the Bureau of Mines

FOR the purpose of providing that the Secretary of
Natural Resources shall appoint the Director of the
Bureau of Mines.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 7-202 (a)

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 7-202 (a) of Article - Natural
Resources, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1974
Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed
and reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

7-202.

(a) The [Governor, with the advice of the]
Secretary[,] shall select and appoint, from a list of
eligible persons prepared by the Secretary of Personnel,
a person known as the "Director of the Bureau of Mines",
to be in charge of the bureau. The director shall
continue to hold office in accordance with the provisions
of the Merit System Law. If a vacancy in the office
occurs, a successor shall be selected and appointed in
the same manner.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.
