AN ACT concerning
Attorneys—At—Law — Admission To Bar
FOR the purpose of providing that persons who become
residents of the State of Maryland that are members
of the bar of another jurisdiction of the United
States for a certain number of years may be admitted
to the bar upon passing an examination and proof of
information relating to character [[and subversive
activities and associations]]; imposing certain
duties on the State Board of Law Examiners and
giving the Court of Appeals certain authority; and
designating that certain existing material contained
in a particular section of the Annotated Code of
Maryland be divided into subsections; making certain
technical changes to the language and style of
expression of the Annotated Code of Maryland; and
declaring this Act to take effect as an emergency
measure.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 10 - Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 7 of Article 10 — Attorneys at Law
and Attorneys in Fact of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it
is hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
Article 10 — Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact

(A) [Members] AFTER BECOMING AN ACTUAL RESIDENT OF
THE STATE OF MARYLAND, A MEMBER of the bar of any state,
district or territory of the United States, who, for five
[[years after admission]] OF THE PRECEDING SEVEN YEARS,
[have] HAS been engaged as [practitioners, judges or
teachers] A PRACTITIONER, JUDGE OR TEACHER of law, shall
be admitted [without examination on "I TO THE BAR OF THIS
STATE AFTER HAVING SATISFACTORILY PASSED AN EXAMINATION
GIVEN BY THE STATE BOARD OF LAW EXAMINERS. IN ADDITION,
AS A PREREQUISITE TO ADMISSION TO THE BAR, EACH APPLICANT
SHALL PROVIDE proof of good moral character[, and that
they are not subversive persons, as defined by the
