AN ACT concerning

Community Development Administration

FOR the purpose of changing the definition of "community
development project" and "families of limited
incomes" as applied to projects of the Community
Development Administration.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 41 - Governor — Executive and Administrative

Departments
Section 266DD—3 (a) and (c)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 266DD-3 (a) and (c) of Article 41
- Governor - Executive and Administrative Departments, of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume
and 1975 Supplement) be and they are hereby repealed and
reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

Article 41 — Governor — Executive and Administrative

Departments

266DD-3.

(a) "Community development project" means any
undertaking or project, or portion thereof, including
lands, buildings and improvements, real, mixed and
personal properties or interest therein that is planned,
acquired, owned, developed, constructed, reconstructed,
rehabilitated or improved for THE purposes of [providing
dwelling accommodations a substantial portion of which
accommodations shall be for families of limited incomes;
or any undertaking or project, or portion thereof,
consisting of facilities such as streets, roads, sewer
and waterlines or other public and private facilities
intended for commercial, educational, cultural,
recreational, community or other civic purposes as may be
deemed necessary for sound community development] [[OF]]
PROMOTING SOUND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. A COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT PROJECT SHALL PROVIDE FOR EXISTING OR NEW
HOUSING WHICH IS OR WHICH WILL BE OCCUPIED IN SUBSTANTIAL
PART BY FAMILIES OF LIMITED INCOMES AND SHALL PROVIDE
SUCH IMPROVEMENTS AS STREETS, ROADS, SEWER AND
WATERLINES, AND SUCH OTHER PUBLIC OR PRIVATE FACILITIES
INTENDED FOR COMMERCIAL, EDUCATIONAL, CULTURAL,
RECREATIONAL, COMMUNITY OR OTHER CIVIC PURPOSE, AS MAY BE
NEEDED TO SUPPORT SUCH NEW [[AND]] OR EXISTING HOUSING.
[[EXISTING HOUSING MEANS DWELLING ACCOMODATIONS FOR
FAMILIES OF LIMITED INCOMES WHICH ARE RECONSTRUCTED,
REHABILITATED OR IMPROVED AS AN UNDERTAKING, OR PORTION
THEREOF, OF A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT.]]
