AN ACT concerning

Health Insurance - Alcoholic Rehabilitation Benefits

FOR the purpose of providing that nonprofit health
service[[, individual,]] and other group health
insurance policies shall offer [[medical]] benefits
for expenses arising from certain alcoholic
rehabilitation treatment programs, to establish
minimum requirements for these benefits, and
generally relating to alcoholic rehabilitation
insurance benefits.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED   BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

MARYLAND, That new Sections   354G[[, 470G]] and 477H be

and they are hereby added to     Article 48A — Insurance

Code, of the Annotated Code of   Maryland (1972 Replacement

Volume and 1975 Supplement) to   read as follows:

Article 48A — Insurance Code

354G.

[[(A) EVERY NONPROFIT HEALTH INSURER WHO ISSUES OF
DELIVERS A HEALTH INSURANCE POLICY THAT INCLUDES HOSPITAL
OR MEDICAL BENEFITS TO ANY PERSON IN THIS STATE SHALL
OFFER BENEFITS AT AN APPROPRIATE ADDITIONAL PREMIUM FOR
EXPENSES ARISING FROM ANY ALCOHOLIC REHABILITATION
TREATMENT PROGRAM LICENSED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
AND MENTAL HYGIENE DIVISION OF LICENSING AND ENFORCEMENT
OR APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL
HYGIENE DIVISION OF ALCOHOLISM CONTROL.

(B)    BENEFITS SHALL PROVIDE THE MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS SPECIFIED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND
MENTAL HYGIENE DIVISION OF ALCOHOLISM CONTROL.

(C)    THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION APPLY TO ALL
POLICIES ISSUED, RENEWED, MODIFIED, ALTERED, AMENDED, OR
