(House Bill 437)

AN ACT concerning

Election Code — Powers of Boards

FOR the purpose of allowing local election boards to make
certain changes in the location of polling places,
and to combine or abolish precincts; prohibiting the
boards from making certain changes after a certain
date, except in emergencies; requiring the boards to
notify voters of certain changes within a certain
time and in certain ways; applying certain existing
provisions of law to wards; clarifying language and
generally relating to the powers and duties of local
boards of election.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 33 - Election Code

Section 2-12(a), (b) and (c)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1971 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 2-12 (a), (b) and (c) of Article
33 — Election Code, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and they
are hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

Article 33 — Election Code

2-12.

(a) The boards, whenever they deem it to be
expedient for the convenience of the voters, may:

(1)         Subdivide into precincts any election
district in their respective counties or ward in
Baltimore City, as the case may be;

(2)         Subdivide any election precinct in
[said] THE counties or [said city] BALTIMORE CITY, as the
case may be;

(3)         Change the boundaries of any election
precinct in [said] THE counties or [said city] BALTIMORE
CITY, as the case may be;

(4)         Designate [such additional] NEW polling
places in any such election district, WARD, or precinct
as they may deem necessary[ . ], OR CHANGE THE LOCATION OF
AN EXISTING POLLING PLACE;

(5)          COMBINE OR ABOLISH PRECINCTS AS MAY BE
