The which peticon being read & by ye Court duly Considered It was ordered by yeare ye Court that ye Said Samll. have A New Lycence for ye ^ Ensuing he giving bond according to Act of Assembly in that case made & provided Jno Dowdall Clk Eliza. Peterson having Entered into Recognizance for her good behaviour & Appearance at Febry Court who Appeared According to recognizance & entered into new Recognizance with Security for good behaviour & Apearance at ye next Court at which Next Court ye 25. Day of March 1701 ye Said Eliza. was presented by ye Grand Jury & found Billa vera which presentmt. was by ye Clk of ye Indictmts. framed into a bill as followes & ye Said Eliza. Comitted into ye Sherf. Custody untill She find new Security for her good behaviour & Appearance at this prsent Court vizt. Kent County The Jurors for our Lord ye King that now is for Kent County upon theire oathes doe present Eliza. Peterson alius Dictus Eliza. Peterson of Kent County Spinster for that She ye Said Eliza. Peterson ye feare of God before her eyes not having wth. force & armes &a. at Towne hundred in Kent County within ye jurisdiction of this Court ye Thirtieth day of October Anno Domi. 1700 Sixteen Yards of Linnen four Yards of frize three Yards of Tape Twenty hundred pounds of Tobo. of ye proper Goods of A certaine John Offley felloniously She did Steale & beare away against ye peace of our Soveraigne Lord ye King & at. ye forme of ye act of Assembly in that Case made & provided Macklin pr Doms. Rege The which Indictment being read distinctly And by ye Said Eliza. heard & being demand :ed whither She was guilty or not guilty but ye Said Eliza. doth confess that She is Guilty & Submitts to ye Court Judgemt. was therefore by ye Court According to Law and valued ye Said Goods to ye Sume of Two hundred & Twenty pounds of Tobo Therefore it is Considered by ye Court here this Day vizt. ye 25th. Day of June Annoq Domi. 1701 That ye Said Eliza. Peterson be Carried to ye whiping post by ye Sherf. of this County & there to receive four lashes upon ye baire back well laid on & Afterwards by ye Said Sherf. to be put into ye pillory & there to reamine ye Space of one quarter of An houre It is likewise considered that ye Said John Offley doe recover from ye Said Eliza. Peterson ye Sume of Eight hundred & eighty pounds of Tobo. four fold According to Act of Assembly in that Case made & provided It was further Considered that ye Said Eliza. pay ye Sume of Six hundred Sixty & four pounds of Tobo. fees Accrewing upon ye Said presentment & ye Said Elizabeth Peterson in Mercy Jno Dowdall Clk |
