Amounting to ye Sume of Nine hundred Sixty Eight & a halfe pound of Tobo. & als
:soe in ye yeare of our Lord 1698 ye Said Robert within ye jurisdiction of this Court did recieve
divers Sumes of Tobo. due to ye Said Thomas from Sundry persons Amounting to ye Sume of four
hundred & Sixty pounds of Tobo. and likewise ye Afsd Thomas at ye Afsd. Instance & request of
of ye Said Robert within ye jurisdiction of this Court did Serve ye Said Robert from ye
fourth day of Apll. Anno Domi. 1698 untill ye fourth day of August in ye Same yeare at
ye rate of fifty Shils pr month which amounts to ye Sume of Tenn pounds Sterg. and alsoe at ye
like instance and request as Afsd. & within ye jurisdiction as Afsd. ye Said Thomas did Serve ye
Said Robert from ye fourth day of Augt. Anno Domi. 1698 untill ye fourth day of Augt. Anno
Domi. 1699 at ye rate of Three pounds Sterg. for Each month Amounting to ye Sume of thirty
Six pounds Sterg. and likewise ye Said Robert within ye Jurisdiction Afsd. in consideracon
that a Certaine Andrew Skinner had drawne an ordr. upon ye Said Robert payable to ye
Said Thomas for ye Sume of Twenty three Shills. & Six penie Sterg. bearing date ye third
day of March Anno Domi. 1698 which Said noate or order Soe drawne & to ye Said Robert
Smith directed ye Said Robert Afterward did Accept & wth. his proper hand Subscribe thereby
promising pay of ye Said one pound Three Shills. & Six pence to ye Said Thomas wch. Sd. noate
with ye Said Roberts Acceptance is here in Court brought all which Sevll. Sumes of Tobo. & money
above recited amounts in ye whole to ye Sume of fourteen hundred Twenty eight & A halfe
pounds of Tobo. and forty Seaven pounds Three Shillings and Six pence Sterg. as Appeares
by An Acct. thereof to this Decln. Annexed & here in Court brought In consideracon whereof ye
Said Robert Smith upon himselfe Assumed & unto ye Said Thomas Mann faithfully promised yt
he ye Said Robert when thereunto Afterwards by ye Said Thomas he Should be required ye Said
Sume of fourteen hundred Twenty Eight & A halfe pounds of Tobo. & forty Seaven pounds
three Shills. & Six pence Sterg. well & Truly he would pay yet nevertheless ye Said Robert ye
Afsd. Sume of fourteen hundred Twenty Eight & A halfe pounds of Tobo. & forty Seaven pounds
three Shills. & Six pence Sterg. according to his Afsd. promise & Assumption altho often by
ye Said Thomas Demanded hath not paid but ye Same to him to pay he hath & Still doth deny
& refuse to ye Damage of ye Said Thomas Mann Two thousand Eight hundred pounds of Tobo &
Eighty pounds Sterg. and thereupon he brings this Suite     Macklin pr qr. pledg &a.    Jno Doe
