March Court 1701 35 Coll. John Hynson Mr. Charles Hynson and Mr. Nathanll. Wright all absent William Shepard Son to Francis Shipard late of this County Decd. bound by ye Court To Mr. Charles Wright untill he is of age being now Nine yeares of age and ye Said Charles Doth oblidge himselfe to Teach ye Said orphan to read and write and at ye Expiracon of his time to give him Two Suites of New Apparell Jno Dowdall Clk Read ye peticon of Danll. Mc. Goole vizt To ye Justices of Kent County in Court now Sitting The humble peticon of Danll. Mc Goole humbly Sheweth that whereas I ye Said Danll. did Covenant wth. one Danll. Marchezaleer for ye Tearme of foure yeares & now ye desire Indentures Appeares for Seaven Yeares I ^ ye Judgemt. of yr worships therein and yr. peticonr. as in duty bound Shall Ever pray Danll. Mc Goole Which peticon being read & heard & by ye Court duly Considered And it Appeareing Evidently to ye Court that ye Said Indentures were altered from four yeares to Seaven It was Therefore Considered by ye Court that if ye Said Alteracon was Made with ye free Consent of ye Said Servant before ye publique notary & afterwards Signed Sealed and delivered by him as his act & deed before ye Said publique notary that then ye Said Indentures are good & valid for ye Said Tearme of Seaven yeares otherwise that ye Said Servants Indentures are adjudged good for foure yeares onely & ye Said proofe to be made by ye Said Danll Marchezaleer before Two of the justices of this Court that ye Said Indentures were Altered as as Afsd. Jno Dowdall Clk Mr. Nathanll. Wright & Coll. Jno Hynson Sitts Capt. Thomas Ringgold Absent Hugh Marsh being Sumn. to Appeare before this Court & to bring his Son Jno along wth. him now Appeares & being demanded ye reason why he did not put in his Said Son into ye List of Taxables now Confesseth that his Said Son was Sixteen yeares of age last May he Ordered by this Court that if any foraigner bring an action into this Court ^ doe put in he Security to pay ye Costs Accrewing upon ye Said Action if ^ doe not prsecute & Same wth. effect Jno Dowdall Clk Robert Smith comes into Court & acknowledges a Conveyance to Renatus Smith for two hundred & forty Acres of Land Scituate Lyeing & being upon Chester River & joyning upon Reeds Mannor upon ye South Side of Chester River in Kent County The grand jury Returne & againe Sent out Elias King and Jno Hackett both duly Sworne & Sent to ye Grand jury Jno Fowler proves an Acct. agt. Michll. Miller Decd. for ye Sume [of] Seaven hundrd. pds. Tobo. Wm Hollinsworth Sworne & Sent to ye Grand jury Coll. J[no Hyns]on & Mr. Phillip Hopkins both absent Thomas Tolly being prsented by ye Grand jury last Novemr. Court for incontinently Cohabitting & frequenting ye Company of A Certaine Mary O?Neale which prsentment was framed into a bill of Indictmt. as followeth vizt. which prsentmt. was Signed billa vera |
