160) Know all Men by these presents that we Charles Mankin Stephen Chandler sen.r Pearson Chapman Horatio Middleton Benjamin Burch & Edward Scott Ware and William Cox of Charles County are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and Just sum of Thirty six Thousand Current Money to be paid to the said state to the which Payment were and Truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our and Each of our heirs Executors and Administrators Jointly and Severally firmly by these Presents sealed with our seals and dated this 15.th day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty three The Condition of the Above Obligation is such That if the above bound Charles mankin shall well and faithfully Execute and perform The several duties required of him as Collector of the Tax for Charles County according to Law Then the Above Obligation to be Void Else to remain in full force and virtue in Law Signed Sealed & Delivered Cha.s Mankin (LS) In the Presence of us Stephen Chandler (seal) Pearson Chapman (seal) Josias Hawkins Hor.a Middleton (seal) Rob.t Young Benj.a Burch (seal) Ed Scott Ware (seal) Recorded 30.th Sep.r 1783 W.m Cox (seal) Ex.d & dl.d & p.d This Indenture Made this 9.th day of April In the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Three Between Samuel Lewin of Ann Arundel County In the State of Maryland Gent of the one part & Tho.s Whittington of the County and state afd of the other part Witnesseth That the said Samuel Lewin for and in Consideration of the sum or Quantity of Sixty Thousand Pounds of Crop Tobacco whereon ^y.e sums aforesaid^ in hand paid by the said Samuel Lewin Tho.s Whittington at and before the Sealing and delivery of these Presents The receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged and thereof and therefrom and of and from every part and Parcell thereof doth by these Presents fully Clearly and Absolutely Acquit Exonerate and discharge The said Thomas Whittington his Heirs Executors Administrators and assigns hath given granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed and Confirmed and by These Presents doth give grant Bargain sell Alien Enfeoff and Confirm unto The said Thomas Whittington his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns forever all The right Title & Interest of him the said Samuel Lewin of in and unto the Several Parts of Tracts or Parcells of Land following being part of Three Tracts of Land Called and Known by the Names of Halls hills Mackalls Hills and Maidstone lying and being on The North side of The Main branch of Halls Creek part in Calvert County and part in Ann Arundel County afd and Contained within the Metes and bounds hereafter described to wit Beginning at a Marked Birch Tree standing on The North side of The Main branch of Halls Creek Thence running down & with the said Branch on the same runneth South Fifty degrees west sixteen Perches (Then) |
