237) M.r Vaughan and his Wife, M.r Chase and Thomas Gough are as this Deponent hath heard and believes all now Dead This Deponant also saith that she is Personally acquainted with Charles Willson Peale now of Annapolis afores.d sadler a Young Man about twenty one Years of Age, and hath always understood and believes him to be the Eldest son of the first mentioned Charles Peale born of his said Wife Margaret, that she hath known him from his childhood and hath every Reason to believe him the Eldest Child of the s.d Margaret Peale born after the Marriage aforesaid except that of actually herself seeing him corn, And further this Deponent saith not Sworn this 11.th day of Eliz.a Bennett September 1762 before Jn.o Brice On the Back of the foregoing Deposition was thus written In one of the Record Books belonging to Saint Pauls Parish in Queen Anns County in the Province of Maryland the following entry is made Viz Charles Wilson Peale son of Charles Peale by Margaret born April the 15.th 1741 which said Charles as he says is the Eldest son of the Reverend Charles Peale Rector of Edith Weston in the County of Rutland, and heir in Tail to the Manner of Wotton in Oxford Shire the Estate of Charles Wilson Doctor of Physic who Died at Hampford Lincholshire March 1724 |
