269 shall be appointed by our Lieutenant Governour or us to be Commander in Chief of the said province to whome we doe therefore by these presents give and grant all and singular the powers and authorities herein Granted to be by him executed and enjoyed dureing our pleasure or untill your arrivall within our said province of Maryland And if upon your death or absence out of our said province of Maryland there be no person upon the place commissionated or appointed by us to be our Lieutenant Governour or Commander in Chief of our said province Our will and Pleasure is that the eldest councillor whose name is first placed in our said instructions to you and who shall be at the time of your death or absence resideing w.thin our said province shall take upon him the administrat.n of the government and execute our said Commiss.n and instructions and the severall powers and authorities therein contained in the manner and to all intents and purposes as other our Governour or Commander in Chief should or ought to do in case of your absence untill your return or in all cases untill our further pleasure be known therein And wee do hereby declare ordain and appoint that you the said John Hart shall and may hold execute and enjoy the office and place of Cap.t Generall and Governour in Chief in and over our said Province and territory of Maryland togeather with all and singular the powers and authorities hereby granted unto you for and dureing our will and pleasure In Witness whereof we have caused these our letters to be made patents Witness our self at westminster the twelfth day of February in the twelfth year of our Reign By writt or privy seal Wrighte Privy seal |
