                 Nathaniel Blakiston Esq.r Cap.t Generall and
    (Loco)  Governo.r in Cheife in and over this his Maj.tys
    (Sigilli)   Province & Territory of Maryland  To all
                 psons to whome these p.rsents shall Come
                 Greeting:

       Know yee that whereas his Maj.ty by his Royall
       Comission to me under the greate seale of Engld
       bearing date at Westminster the 19.th day of October
       in the Tenth year of his Maj.tys reigne &c Annoq.r
       Dm 1698 hath beene gratiously pleased among
       other powers & authoritys to me granted therein
       to authorize & Impower me upon the death
       absence or suspencion of any pson in this province
       holding or Enjoying any office of Trust or proffitt by
       Comission under the Greate Seale from his Maj.ty
       to putt in some other fitt person in my discretion to
       supply the vacancy Officiate in Execute the Trust &
       charge of such Office untill such time as his Maj.tys
       Royall pleasure shall be signified therein And
       whereas alsoe it hath pleased Goe to take out of his
       world by drafts Thomas Lawrence Esq.r his Maj.tys
       late Secretary and Publick Notary of this province
       by Comission imediately under the greate Seale of Engld
       bearing date the 20.th day of September in the ^10.th^ year of
       his Maj.tys reigne &c  Whereby the sayd place and
       Office is become vacant and there being an absolute
       necessity of some Pson to Execute Officials and performe
       that office and trust  Therefore pursuant to the sayd
       powers and authoritys I haveing & reposing greate
       Trust and Confidence in the Loyalty fidellity and
       abillity of You William Bladen Esq.r Have thought
