843 (823 M.r Isaac Millner Maryland Port of Annapolis July y.e 25.th 1698 S.r Inclosed I have sent you a state of the acco.t due from M.r Plater upon the 3.d for arms as is mentioned in the L.rs of me & the Councill to you of the 22.d Instant as also the order of Councill what you ord.r now to send us upon that money w.ch 331.ℓ 2.s 2.d ¾ as you will soe by the acco.t here stated Inclosed is a ter I have written to one Cap.t Silver and Desire you will give your self the trouble to find him out and will Informe you where you may have the best Granadeers arms gett him to goe w.th you to looke upon them to give you his oppinion whether they be right good or not and also give you written Directions for useing the Granadeers and to make the fusees for the granado shells for all which you must see him satisfyed but if the s.d Cap.t Silver be dead You will doe well to apply your self to the Chief gunner who you are to satisfye for his trouble out of the aforesaid 331.ℓ 2.s 2.d ¾ and when you have bought the arms and ammunition in the first part of the ord.r wanting you are to dispose of the rest of the money according to the latter ord.r in Granandeer and Dragoons arms &c.a which is what at p.rson to is needfull from S.r Y.r affectionate freind and humble servant Francis Nicholson A particular acco.t of what is wanting to Compleat the arms and ammunition &c.a All ready sent in
A proper wadding for the hand morters and fuzees w.th Instruments to sell them and directions how they are to be used which when supplyed and Cap.t Silver satisfied the remainder of y.e money layd out in equall proportion one halfe in Granadeer Arms the other halfe in Carbines and belts and pistolls for every Granadeer a fusee to have a worme and to every Carbine and a worme to each Case of pistolls all the arms as well fuzees Carbines and pistolls to be sanguined the hamer hatchets to be blackened the byonetts to be good strong ones w.th good strong seabbards A Cartouch box for ever Granadeer which is to have two Doz of Charges in it for the fuzee 550.ℓ off match and Tinn things for y.e Granadeers to hang their match in Capt Silver Maryland Port of Annapolis July y.e 25.th 1698 S.r I hope this will find you in pfect health and prosperity which whearof will be very acceptable to me in this wilderness part of the world This will be given you by me M.r Isaack Millner M.rcht in London to whome I desire you would give Yo.r directions where he may have those things which I have written to him to send hither for his Maj.tys service and likewise the directions for using the hand mortars for all which he has or d.rs to pay you and in soe doing these things you will continue to oblege Yo.r affectionate freind and Humble servant I desire my humble s.rvice to all our tangeire freind and acquaintance To the Hon.rd Capt Silver his Majestyes Cheife Gunner True Coppy p W Bladen Clk Councill and Engineer of all his Maj.tyes Royall Pallaces to be heard of at White hall or at his house in S.t James Park or at the Tower of London Recorded Aug.t 3.d 1698 Chr Gregory Clk |
