(773) 792 This Indenture made the day of November Anno Dm 1695 Between Richard Medcalf of the one part and Robert Handcock of Ann Arundell County Sawyer on the other part Witnesseth that the said Richard Medcalf doth thereby Covenant and promise and grante to and with the said Robert Hancock his Executo.rs and Assignes from the day of the date hereof until the full time and tearm of Four years to be Compleated and ended and in Consideracon whereof the said Robert Hancock doth hereby Covenant and grant to and with the said Richard Medcalf to learn him the Trade of a Sawyer and to learn him the said Richard Medcalf to read and write and to find and allow him Meat Drinke Apparel and Lodging and other necessaryes during the said tearm and he the said Richard Medcalf is to tend Corn and to doe necessary jobbs about the plantacon and at the end of the four years the said Robert Hancock is to pay the said Medcalf three pounds sterling money of England and one good suit of Apparell of serge or good Kersey In witness whereof the partyes above menconed to these Indentures have interchangably sett their hands and seals the day and year above written his Sealed and delivered in Richard + Medcalf (+) the presence of us mark James Homewood Henry Chappell Robert Hancock (+) his Benj.a BS Smith mark N.o on the ships booke/ 194 Mathew Collarord Seaman to the 24.th day of August 95 then Armourer aged 25 Years Entred on board his Ma.tyes Ship Prince of Orange on the third day of December 1694 and served untill the 27.th day of May 1697 at which time he was discharged by reason to looke after his Maj.tyes Armes in the Province of Maryland he hath received in Clothes to the value of Twelve shill signed and sealed the 27.th day of March 1697 Josiah Daniell Cap.t William Franklin Master To the Treasurer of his Ma.tys Josp.r Gifford pursers steward Francis Emmett Boatswaine Navy (Dio 526) full Clothes deducted Chest neat Imprest Neglect Stows Endorsed thus Due for short allowance at six to four mens allowance of all sorts of Provisions Beer Excepted from Jan.ry 3.d 1694 to Aug.t the first 95 and from the third of June 96 to the 27.th day of March 97 drank water from the twenty second day of September to the 27.th day of March 1697 Recorded Aprill 30.th 1697 H Wriothesley Clk |
