       Att Twenty days sight of this my third Bill of Exchange my first nor second
       not paid pay or Cause to be paid unto James Browne or Ord.r the Sum of fourteen
       pounds sterling for value of  him Recd make Good pay and place the same to the

       Know all men by these p.rsents that I William Smoote of Charles County planter
       doe hereby Constitute ordaine and appoynt my Loving Freind Thomas Wickerley
       of Charles County to be my true and lawfull Attorney to acknowledge a Certaine
       Tract or parcell of Land lying at or near old Road Creek in Baltemore County
       as p Conveyance from me formerly signed sealed and Deliverd and acknowledgd
       in Charles County Court by Me which the said Lynes &c will more at large
       appear and whereas the said Lynes required further acknowledgment & Confirmation
       for the said Land by Acknowledgm.t of the same Conveyance together with
       some further Endorsment on the said Conveyance by Mee to be made in the
       Provinciall Court that it may be there Recorded allsoe According to Law I doe hereby
       constitute and appoynt my said Att.ry in my Name ot Act & Acknowledge the
       same as the Law in that case Provides holding for forme and Good what my
       said Attorney shall lawfully doe and Act in Pforming the same as if I were
       there psonally p.rsent and had Acted the same my self Wittness my hand
       and seale this 28.th day of Septemb Anno Domini 1696
