(699) 709 Mem.d that this day to witt the seventeenth day of November 1694 Came before us underwritten Rebecca the wife of James Jones within named being privately examined according to Act of Assembly does acknowledge the within menconed to be her let free Act and Deed without any manner of Compulsion whatsoever and the said James Jones acknowledged the same to be his Act and Deed as the Law of this province does req requir In testimony whereof We Robert Mason and Richard Hill two of their Ma.ties Justices of the Provincial Court of the Province of Maryland have hereunto sett our hands the day and year above menconed Robert Mason May y.e 8.th 1696 Richard Hill Record 17.o Jan.ry 1694 There received of Cap.t Thomas Waughop the sume of sixteen shillings sterl being for the Allination due to the Henry Wriothesley Clk Right Hon.ble the Lord Baltemore for the Land within specified as Witness my hand Henry Darnall This Indenture made the Twentieth day of September in the Sixth Year of the Reign of our Soveraign Lord and Lady William and Mary King and Queen of England &c Annoq Dm 1694 Between Tobias Greentrey of S.t Ives Parish in Bristoll of the one part and Thomas Patman of S.t Katherines Marriner of the other part Witnesseth that the said Tobias Greentrey being destitute of Friends and all necessaryes Hath and by these p.rsents Doth bind and put himself an Apprentice & Servant to the said Thomas Patman to serve him or his Assignes in the Plantacon of Maryland beyond the sea for the space of six years next ensueing the arrivall of the said Tobias Greentrey in the said Plantacon and doth hereby Covenant well and truly to serve the said Thomas Patman or his lawfull Assignes in the said plantation for and during the said terme according to the Law and Customs of the said plantation and doth further declare and Covenant that he the said Tobias Greentrey at the time of the ensealing hereof is of the Age of Sixteen Years & a single person & unmaryed & no Covenant or Contracted Servant to any other person or persons And the said Thomas Patman for himself his Executo.rs and Assignes In Consideracon thereof doth hereby Covenant promise and agree to and with the said Tobias Greentrey that he the said Thomas Patman or his Assignes shall and will at his or their own proper Costs and Charges with what convenient speed they may Carry and Convey or cause to be Carryed or Conveyd over unto the said plantation the said Tobias Greentrey and from thenceforth and during the said Voyage and alsoe during the said Term and at the end thereof shall & will at the like Costs and Charges provide for and allow the said Tobias Greentrey all necessary Cloaths Meat Drink Washing Lodging and other necessaryes fit and convenient for him according to the Custom of the said plantation and as other servants in such Cases are usually provided for and allow'd In witness whereof the said parties have hereunto sett their hands and seales the Day and Year above written Sealed and delivered in the the mark of p.rsence of Richard Cornwell Thomas T Patman Jasper Blyth These are to Certify that the above named Tobias Greentrey Came before me Richard Cornwell the day and year abovewritten and declared himself to be single and unmarryed and no Covenant or Contracted servant to any person or persons to be of the age of sixteen years and to be desirous to serve the above named Thomas Patman according to the tenor of the Indenture above written All which is Registred in the Office for that purpose appointed by Letters Pattents In witness whereof I have hereunto affixed the Comon Seale of the said office Loco Sigilli Richard Cornwell Dep.ty Reg.r Record 2.o Feb.ry 1694 |
