The Right Hon.ble the Lords of y.e Committee for Trade and Plantacons haveing laid before his Maj.ty in Councill a Report from S.r Thomas Trevor Kn.t ther Maj.ts sollint.r Gen.ll upon severall demands of the Lord Baltemore as Lord Proprietary of their Ma.ts Province of Maryland which haveing been this day read at the Boord as followeth (viz.t) To the R.t Hon.ble the Lords of the Com.tee of Trade & Plantacons In obediance to your Lo.wr order of Reference of the 19.th of September last I have considered of the several Demands made by my Lord Baltemore in the Province of Maryland and Represented to their Ma.ts by the Assembly of that Province And I have been attended by the Lord Baltemore & his Councill And as to his Lo.rs first demand of Twelve pence p.r Hogshead for all Tobacco exported out of that Province I find the said Duty is part of a certain Duty of Two shillings a Hogshead for all Tobacco exported from that Province granted by an Act of y.e Assembly there of the 7.th of March 1671 One Moyety whereof is by the said Act appropriated to the Publique service for the better support of the governm.t and the other Moyety which is the 12 pence p Hogshead now demanded by the Lord Baltemore to be received by him for his one use as Proprietor of the said Province and that the said Twelve pence a Hogshead was by Order of Councill the 26.th of February 1690 directed to be answered and paid to the Lord Baltemore or Proprietor of Maryland And I doe not find that the Assembly doe much Contest my Lord Right to this duty of twelve pence a Hogshead The Representacon they have made to their Maj.ties where they say they are with their Maj.ty Royall Assent ready to Confirme the same to his Lo.ps Provided he |
