602 (592 the Lands remaining to the p.rsent pocessors over the said twenty acres will suffice to uphold the Mannor (viz) the sixth part of their Mannor alloted by the condicons of Plantacons for the Demesnes as here before the alienacon afsd in default of the present pocessors more then was want bee not charged and greived and the Inquisitions thereupon onely and distinctly made to us in our Chancery under his seale and the seales of them by whom it should bee made without delay he should send together with the said writt In obedience to which writt the said sherriffe did returne unto our said Court of Chancery an Inquisition indented taken at a runn of water at Mattawoman called Danells Branch or runn the seaventh day of September last past and thereby did certifye that the Jurors by him impannelled and sworne for the purposes in the sd writt menconed to witt Robert Thomson Jun.r Richard Harrison Samuell Luckett Edward Till, Robert Bensen, Mases Jones, John Martin, Henry Browner, James Barrett, George Brett, Mathew Saunders and William Spikeman who upon theire oathes doe say that they had caused twenty Acres of Land lyeing on each side the sd Runn whereon the sd W.m Dent and Joseph Bullett begunn & alinof finished a Water Mill to bee laid out and surveyed Begining at a bounded Hickory standing upon a Levell by the sd Runn runing thence by the sd Runn or Branch southeast Fifty six & a halfe p.rches to a bounded white oake thence Northeast across the Branch fifty six & a halfe p.rches to a bounded red oake thence runing downe the Branch Northwest Fifty Six & a halfe p.rches to a Locust post runing thence Southwest to the first bound tree and that it is not to the Damage of us or others to grant the sd twenty acres of land to the sd William Dent and Joseph Bullett for the use afsd other then the yearly Rent hereafter Menconed that is to say the yearely Rent of one hundred & Fifty pounds of tobacco to be paid to William Barton planter or those to whom it shall sure after belong and that the sd twenty acres of Land are houlden of the Right Hon.ble Charles Lord ^Baron of^ Baltemore in free and comon soccage by Fealty of or all manner of services and is held of his Lopps Mannor of Zachia and that the sd W.m Barton sonn and heire of Nathan Barton late of Charles County is the p.rsent possessor and that there is noe more messues between the p.rsent pocessors and us but the sd Lord Baltemore and that there remaine to the p.rsent pocessor besides the twenty Acres of Land two hundred and Eighty Acres of Land in the tract In Witness whereof as well the Sherriffe as the Jurors afsd had thereunto sett their hands & seales the day and yeare last before menconed As by the sd Inquisition remaining of Reccord in our sd Court of Chancery may more at large appeare And Whereas also the sd W.m Dent and Joseph Bullet have given good security according to the true intent meaning and directions of the said Act of Assembly the begining of the sd building of the sd Mills to prosecute compleat & finish by the tyme in the sd Act of Assembly limitted and prescribed Now Know Yee that Wee willing to encourage & promote soe publick a good in p.rsuance of the sd Act of Assembly Have given and granted and by these p.rsents doe give and Grant to the sd William Dent and Joseph Bullett theire Ex.rs Adm.rs and assignes the said twenty acres of Land in the sd Inquisition Menconed to be laid out & surveyed lyeing on each side of the Runn of water att Mattawoman afsd To hould and enjoy the sd twenty Acres of Land with and every the proffitts comodities woods underwoods another the appurtenances to the same belonging & all houses and ediffces thereupon |
