AN ACT concerning
Washington County — Carnivals, Bazaars, or Baffles
FOR the purpose of providing that in Washington County
certain organizations conducting or holding a
carnival, bazaar, or raffle shall be exempt from the
provisions generally relating to "Gaming"; limiting
the use of those proceeds; providing that the
carnival, bazaar, or raffle shall be managed by the
organizations members personally; and clarifying
language.
BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments,

Section 255
Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 255 of Article 27 - Crimes and
Punishments, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971
Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments
255.
[Nothing in this] THIS subtitle [shall] MAY NOT be
construed to make it unlawful for any volunteer fire
company or bona fide fraternal, civic, war veterans',
religious or charitable organization or corporation in
Allegany, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Caroline, Charles,
Dorchester, Garrett, Kent, Prince George's, Queen Anne's,
St. Mary's, Somerset, [and] Talbot AND WASHINGTON
counties to conduct or hold a carnival, bazaar, or raffle
for the exclusive benefit of any such volunteer fire
company or fraternal, civic, war veterans', religious or
charitable organization or corporation, [provided that]
IF no individual or group of individuals [shall benefit]
BENEFITS financially from the holding of any [such]
bazaar, carnival, or raffle or [shall receive] RECEIVES
or be paid any of the proceeds from any [such] carnival,
bazaar, or raffle, for personal use or benefit. It shall
