unavailable to prove service prior to [January] JULY 1,
1974, the certification may be made by a company after
thorough investigation, and on the best information,
knowledge and belief of the Board of Directors of the
individual company.
(6) In computing credit for those volunteers who
also serve as paid employees within the Prince George's
County Fire/Rescue Service, credit shall not be given for
activities performed during the individuals regularly
assigned work period.
(7) A volunteer member whose name does not appear
on the approved certified list or who is denied credit
for service prior to [January] JULY 1, 1974, shall have
the right to appeal within thirty (30) days of denial of
past service credit. The appeal shall be in writing and
forwarded to the County Fire [Chief.] COMMISSION. [The
majority decision of the County Fire Chief, the President
of the Prince George's County Volunteer Firefighters
Association, and the Chairman of the Fire Commission
shall be final.] THE APPEAL SHALL BE HEARD BY THE COUNTY
FIRE CHIEF, THE PRESIDENT OF THE PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY
VOLUNTEER FIREMEN'S ASSOCIATION, AND THE CHAIRMAN OF THE
FIRE COMMISSION. A MAJORITY DECISION SHALL BE FINAL.
THE FIRE COMMISSION SHALL SUBMIT TO THE COUNTY DIRECTOR
OF FINANCE THE APPROVED, CERTIFIED LIST IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE TIMETABLE ESTABLISHED FOR AGENCY SUBMISSIONS
UNDER THE CURRENT BUDGET CYCLE.
(f) Active Service Standards.
For the purpose of participating in the program,
[an] A YEAR OF active [member] VOLUNTEER SERVICE is
defined as a [volunteer who] YEAR IN WHICH AN APPLICANT
FOR CERTIFICATION has accumulated a minimum of fifty (50)
points [each year] in accordance with the following point
system. Points will be credited for the period of
[January] JULY 1, through [December] JUNE [31] 30, each
year and shall not be transferrable from one year to the
next.
(1) One point shall be credited for each hour of
attendance in a [recognized] training course APPROVED BY
THE COUNTY FIRE COMMISSION providing that not more than
2 5 points may be credited for all training courses
attended per year.
(2) One point shall be credited for each company
or county drill attended in its entirety, providing that
not more than 25 points may be credited for all drills
attended per year.
