SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THIRTY (30) SEMESTER HOURS IN FIRE
TECHNOLOGY COURSE WORK. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: POSSESSION
OF MARYLAND CLASS "B" DRIVER'S LICENSE. MUST HAVE SERVED
SATISFACTORILY FOR A PERIOD OF NOT LESS THAN ONE (1) YEAR
IN THE NEXT LOWER GRADE OF RESPONSIBILITY OR COMPARABLE
LEVEL OR RESPONSIBILITY; OR ANY EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.
(814) POLICE CAPTAIN
MUST HAVE REMAINED IN THE GRADE OF LIEUTENANT FOR AT
LEAST TWO (2) YEARS PRIOR TO BEING ELIGIBLE. MUST HAVE
AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE IN POLICE OR BUSINESS
ADMINISTRATION; OR MUST HAVE COMPLETED THE F.B.I.
NATIONAL ACADEMY OR ONE OF THE NUMEROUS SPECIAL POLICE
ADMINISTRATOR COURSES GIVEN BY SEVERAL COLLEGES AS
APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE; OR ANY EQUIVALENT
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.
Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL OF HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, that this Act shall
take effect sixty (60) days after its enactment.

AN ACT to amend Sections 1.300 and 1.301 of the Howard
County Code, title "Administration," subtitle
"Exempt Service," to establish an Executive Pay Plan
for fixing the term and compensation of the officers
and employees in the executive branch exempt from
the Classification Service.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, that Sections 1.300 and 1.301 of
Title 1 of the Howard County Code, "Administration,"
subtitle "Exempt Service," be and are hereby amended to
read as follows:
1.300 — Scope.
All officers and positions of the County are divided
into the Classified Service and the Exempt Service. The
Exempt Service shall include the following:
A. All elected officials and members of boards and
commissions.
