EQUIVALENCE TEST. MINIMUM AGE TWENTY-ONE (21) YEARS,
AND POSSESSION OF A VALID MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATING
LICENSE.
(805) FIREFIGHTER
GRADUATION FROM A RECOGNIZED HIGH SCHOOL OR
SATISFACTORY COMPLETION OF GENERAL EQUIVALENCE TEST, WITH
A MINIMUM REQUIREMENT OF EIGHTEEN (18) YEARS OF AGE.
PLACED IN A TWELVE (12) MONTH PROBATIONARY STATUS UPON
MEETING THE FOLLOWING SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. APPROVED HOWARD COUNTY FIRE SERVICE MEDICAL AND
PHYSICAL STANDARDS. NO WAIVERS ON MEDICAL OR PHYSICAL
STANDARD WILL BE ACCEPTED IN THE AREA OF WEIGHT, VISION,
HEARING, AGILITY, COORDINATION, AND ENDURANCE.
2. CLEAR POLICE AND CREDIT RECORDS.
3. ELIGIBILITY FOR OR POSSESSION OF MARYLAND CLASS
"B" DRIVERS LICENSE.
UPON COMPLETION OF BASIC FORMAL FIREFIGHTER AND
AMBULANCE ATTENDANT COURSES, POSSESSION OF MARYLAND CLASS
"B" DRIVERS LICENSE, AND SATISFACTORY COMPLETION OF
PROBATIONARY REQUIREMENTS, PROBATIONARY FIREFIGHTER IS
APPOINTED TO FIREFIGHTER POSITION.
(806) POLICE OFFICER FIRST CLASS
MUST HAVE TWO (2) YEARS OF POLICE EXPERIENCE IN THE
COUNTY, STATE OR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LEVEL.
(807) FIREFIGHTER FIRST CLASS
GRADUATION FROM A RECOGNIZED HIGH SCHOOL OR GENERAL
EQUIVALENCE TEST, WITH A MINIMUM REQUIREMENT OF EIGHTEEN
(18) YEARS OF AGE. MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED TWO
(2) YEARS OF PAID FIREFIGHTER EXPERIENCE, INCLUDING ONE
(1) YEAR AS A HOWARD COUNTY PROBATIONARY FIREFIGHTER.
SATISFACTORILY COMPLETED FIREFIGHTING, AMBULANCE, AND
RESCUE TRAINING COURSES AS PRESCRIBED BY THE FIRE
ADVISORY BOARD. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: POSSESSION OF
MARYLAND CLASS "B" DRIVER'S LICENSE.
(808) POLICE CORPORAL
MUST HAVE THREE (3) YEARS OF POLICE EXPERIENCE IN
COUNTY, STATE OR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LEVEL, ONE (1) YEAR
OF WHICH IS PROBATIONARY IN THE POSITION OF PATROLMAN.
(809) FIREFIGHTER TECHNICIAN/SERGEANT
GRADUATION FROM A RECOGNIZED HIGH SCHOOL OR GENERAL
