MUNICIPAL CHARTERS
City elections by the board of supervisors of election,
the council, in its discretion, shall have the power by
ordinance to approve a contract between the City and
another Maryland municipal corporation for____the
performance, by such other municipal corporation for the
City, of all or part of the functions and duties of the
board of supervisors of elections pursuant to the terms
of said contract as approved by the council. In such
event, the board of supervisors of elections shall be
relieved of those duties or functions contracted to be
performed by another Maryland municipal corporation.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SALISBURY, That the Mayor of the City of
Salisbury be and hereby is authorized and directed to
give notice hereof by posting and publication as required
by Article 23A of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland; and amendments herein proposed shall become
effective upon expiration of the time limit therein
contained.
The above Resolution was introduced at the regular
meeting of the Council of Salisbury, held on the 22nd day
of July, 1974, and having been duly published as required
by law in the meantime was finally passed at its meeting
held on the 22nd day of July, 1974.
RESOLUTION NO. 181
A RESOLUTION of the Council of The City of Salisbury
proposing an amendment of the Charter of The City of
Salisbury by amending Section 33 thereof, entitled,
"Persons considered duly qualified voters; right of duly
qualified voters to vote", so as to reduce the required
period of residence from six months to thirty days.
BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SALISBURY, that in conformity with the mandate of the
Supreme Court, in the case of Dunn v. Blumstein, the
Council hereby recommends amending Section 33 of the
Charter of The City of Salisbury to read as follows, new
matter being underscored and matter eliminated therefrom
being enclosed in double parentheses:
Section 33. Persons considered duly qualified
voters; right of duly qualified voters to vote.
"Every person who (a) is a citizen of the
United States, (b) is at least eighteen years of
age, (c) has resided within the corporate limits of
