RESOLUTION NO. 5th of 1974

A RESOLUTION of the City of Laurel Adopted Pursuant
to the provisions of Article 23A, Sections 11 through 18,
titled Corporations — Municipal, subtitled Charter
Amendments, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1973
Replacement Volume) to amend the Charter of the City of
Laurel, Section 29(b) entitled "Town Supervisor — Powers
and Duties — Employees", and Section 29(c) entitled "Town
Supervisor — Powers and Duties - Employment", to include
the employees of the financial department of the town
under his direction,

THEREFORE: BE IT ENACTED AND ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR
AND CITY COUNCIL OF LAUREL, MARYLAND, that Section 29(b)
of the Charter of the City of Laurel, entitled "Town
Supervisor — Powers and Duties — Employees", be amended
by the exclusion of the words ", other than employees of
the financial department of the town, and" and that
Section 29(c) of the Charter of the City of Laurel,
entitled "Town Supervisor — Powers and Duties —
Employment", be amended by the exclusion of the words",
other than employees of the financial department of the
town and," said Section 29 to read as follows:

TOWN SUPERVISOR
Section 29. Powers and duties.

(a)    Listed. Under the authority and supervision of
the Mayor, the Town Supervisor shall have authority and
shall be required to:

(b)    Employees. Exercise direction over and have
charge of all town employees, and all town working forces
[, other than employees of the financial department of
the town and] subject to the provisions of Section 41 of
this Charter.

(c)     Same; employment. Hire and discharge, subject
to the approval of the Mayor and the City Council, all
town employees, and all town working forces [, other than
employees of the financial department of the town, and]
subject to the provisions of Section 41 of this Charter.

(d)     Public works. Have and exercise direct charge
of all public work of the town.

(e)    Contract work. Oversee and inspect all work
performed under contract.
