CORPORATE NAME AND DEFINITIONS

1.   CORPORATE NAME.

THIS CHARTER IS THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION CHAPTER OF
THE TOWN OF EAST NEW MARKET, THE CORPORATE NAME OF WHICH
IS COMMISSIONERS OF EAST NEW MARKET.

2.         DEFINITIONS.

THE TERMS "TOWN," "CITY," "MUNICIPALITY," OR
"MUNICIPAL CORPORATION" IN THIS CHARTER SHALL BE

CONSTRUED AS SYNONYMOUS.

GENERAL CORPORATE POWERS

3. GENERAL POWERS.

THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION HERE ESTABLISHED (OR
CONTINUED), UNDER ITS CORPORATE NAME, HAS ALL THE
PRIVILEGES OF A BODY CORPORATE, BY THAT NAME TO SUE AND
BE USED, TO PLEAD AND BE IMPLEADED IN ANY COURT OF LAW OR
EQUITY, TO HAVE AND USE A COMMON SEAL AND TO HAVE
PERPETUAL SUCCESSION, UNLESS THE CHARTER AND THE
CORPORATE EXISTENCE ARE LEGALLY ABROGATED.

4.         DESCRIPTION OF CORPORATE BOUNDARIES.

A DESCRIPTION OF THE CORPORATE BOUNDARIES OF THE
TOWN AT ALL TIMES SHALL BE ON FILE WITH THE TOWN CLERK OF
OTHER COMPARABLE OFFICIAL AND WITH THE CLERK OF THE COURT
OF THE COUNTY. THE CORPORATE BOUNDARIES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
THE LIMIT OF THE SAID TOWN SHALL BEGIN AT THE NORTHWEST
CORNER OF THE ACADEMY LOT; THENCE RUNNING WITH THE
EASTERN SIDE OF THE NEW PUBLIC ROAD LEADING FROM RAILROAD
AVENUE, TO THE CAMBRIDGE EAST NEW MARKET PUBLIC ROAD,
SOUTH 5 DEGREES EAST 625 FEET TO THE SOUTH END OF THE
CREAMERY LOT; THENCE WITH SAME AND THE NORTH EDGE OF THE
SAID NEW ROAD SOUTH 82 DEGREES EAST 40 FEET; THENCE WITH
THE EAST SIDE OF SAID NEW ROAD SOUTH 10-1/2 DEGREES EAST
1,505 FEET TO THE WEST SIDE OF THE SAID CAMBRIDGE-EAST
NEW MARKET ROAD; THENCE WITH THE WEST SIDE OF SAID ROAD
NORTH 67-1/2 DEGREES EAST 347 FEET TO A POINT MARKED BY A
STONE, OPPOSITE WHERE A LARGE CEDAR TREE FORMERLY STOOD
ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF SAID ROAD; THENCE IN THE LINE,
WITH WHERE THE SAID CEDAR TREE FORMERLY STOOD SOUTH 73
DEGREES EAST 2,029 FEET TO A STONE IN THE LINE OF THE
RIGHT OF WAY OF THE CAMBRIDGE AND SEAFORD RAILROAD;
THENCE NORTH 22 DEGREES EAST 1,530 FEET TO THE CENTER OF
SAID RAILROAD AVENUE; THENCE STILL WITH THE SAME COURSE
AND WITH THE LINE OF THE PROPERTY OF EDWIN C. BELL 906
FEET; THENCE AT RIGHT ANGLES NORTH 68 DEGREES WEST 2,197
FEET TO A POINT IN S.L. WEBSTER'S LAND; AND THENCE SOUTH
51-1/2 DEGREES WEST 980 FEET TO THE PLACE OF BEGINNING.
