DEER PARK

4537

1.   Corporate name.

This charter is the municipal corporation charter of
the town of Deer Park, Maryland.

2.   Definitions.

The terms "town", "city", "municipality", or
"municipal corporation" in this charter shall be
construed as synonymous.

GENERAL CORPORATE POWERS

3.   General Powers.

The municipal corporation here established (or
continued), under its corporate name, has all the
privileges of a body corporate, by that name to sue and
be sued, to plead and be impleaded in any court of law or
equity, to have and to use a common seal and to have
perpetual succession, unless this charter and corporate
existence are legally abrogated.

CORPORATE LIMITS

4.   Description of corporate boundaries.

A description of the    corporate boundaries of the

town at all times shall be on   file with the town clerk or

other comparable official and  with the clerk of the court

of the county. The corporate  boundaries are as follows:

An area of one (1) square mile, lines running north
and south, east and west, and beginning at a point north
45°, east 226.25 rods from where the road from Sand Flat
to Deer Park crosses the road from Broad Ford to Deer
Park and Altamont, said point being the center of said
township.

THE COUNCIL

5. Number of councilmen: selection; term.

All legislative powers of the town are vested in a
council consisting of four councilmen who shall be
elected as hereinafter provided and who shall hold office
for a term of four years or until the succeeding council
takes office. The regular term of councilmen shall
expire on the second Monday following the election of
their successors. Councilmen holding office at the time
this charter becomes effective shall continue to hold
office for the term for which they were elected and until
