been published; and (2) return receipts of the mailing
referred to in Section 3, and shall further complete and
execute the Certificate of Effect attached hereto.

Section 5: That this Resolution and Amendment
rescind Section 5 enacted March 13, 1963 to become
effective on May 2, 1963.

INTRODUCED AND PASSED by the Council of the City of
Bowie, Maryland at a Regular Meeting on February 11,
1974.

CITY OF BOWIE
CHARTER AMENDMENT RESOLUTION NO. 2-74

A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWIE,
MARYLAND adopted pursuant to the authority of Article 11E
of the Constitution of Maryland and Section 13 of Article
23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition, as
amended) to amend Section 5 entitled "(Salary of
Councilmen)", said Section being Section 5—5 of Subtitle
5 of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1963 Edition, as amended) , which article
contains in whole or in part the Charter of the City of
Bowie, by repealing and re—enacting with amendment said
Section 5 increasing from $1,200 to $2,700 the salary for
Councilmen.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWIE,
MARYLAND:

Section 1: That the Charter of said municipal
corporation be, and the same is hereby amended by
repealing Section 5 and enacting in lieu thereof new
Section 5 to read as follows:

5. (Salary). The Councilmen shall receive an
annual salary of [one thousand two hundred dollars] TWO
THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS per year. Provided,
however, that the salary specified in this Charter shall
not be increased for the Councilmen during the term for
which they are elected.

Section 2: That the date of the adoption of this
Resolution is February 11, 1974 and that the amendment to
the Charter of the City of Bowie, hereby proposed by this
enactment, shall be and become effective on April 2, 1974
unless a proper petition for a referendum hereon shall be
filed by March 23, 1974, as permitted by law. A complete
