VETOES

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill
1675.

This bill authorises the governing body of Prince
George's County to impose a local multi—family occupancy
tax. The provisions of the Act expire on July 1, 1976.

Senate Bill 1157 enacted by the General Assembly and
signed by me on May 15, 197 5, accomplishes the same
purpose as House Bill 1675 but in addition authorizes the
local governing body to provide exempt the first $150 in
rent from the operation of the tax.

As the purpose of House Bill 1175 is accomplished by
the provisions of Senate Bill 1157, I have decided to
veto House Bill 1675.

Sincerely,

/s/ Marvin Mandel

Governor

House Bill No. 1696 — Prince George's County;
Noncertificated Public School Employees

AN ACT concerning

Prince George's County — Fees for Noncertificated
Public School Employees

FOR the purpose of requiring certain public school
employees to pay a certain fee as a condition of
their employment in Prince George's County.

May 15, 1975.
Honorable John Hanson Briscoe
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland

Dear Mr. Speaker:
