The Social Security Building at the Metro
West Site

FOR the purpose of requesting the Congress of the United
States to quickly accept the Metro West site and
continue to study the nature of the Woodlawn site
for the expansion of Social Security facilities.

WHEREAS, Baltimore City needs the revenue from the
Social Security Building at the Metro West site; and

WHEREAS, Building the site will help the depressed
construction industry; and

WHEREAS, The Metro West will help prevent urban
blight in Baltimore City; and

WHEREAS, A site is already available in Baltimore
City and difficulties exist in Woodlawn; and

WHEREAS, To expand the downtown site will be a
project concomitant with the needs of the citizens of
Maryland; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the Maryland Congressional Delegation be requested to
urge the Congress of the United States to quickly accept
the Metro West site and continue to study the nature of
the Woodlawn site; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to
the Maryland Congressional Delegation as follows:
Senators Charles McC. Mathias, Jr., and J. Glenn Beall,
Jr., Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C., 20510; and
Members of Congress Robert E. Bauman, Clarence D. Long,
Paul S. Sarbanes, Majorie S. Holt, Gladys N. Spellman,
Goodloe E. Byron, Parren J. Mitchell, and Gilbert Gude,
House Office Building, Washington, D.C., 20515.
