(House Bill 1322)
AN ACT concerning
Cecil County — Sheriff's Office
FOR the purpose of specifying the number of deputies the
Sheriff of Cecil County may appoint or hire;
increasing the salaries of certain deputies; making
certain changes in terminology; specifying the
number of automobiles the Cecil County Commissioner
shall furnish the Sheriff's office, and specifying
when they shall be replaced[[.]]; and providing that
the sheriff may appoint additional deputy sheriffs
after obtaining the approval of the County
Commissioners of Cecil County.
BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments,
Article — Courts and Judicial Proceedings
Section [[2-309(i) (1) and (2)]] 2-309(i)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 2-309 (i) (1) and (2) of Article
— Courts and Judicial Proceedings, of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1974 Volume and 1974 Supplement) be and
they are hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
Article — Courts and Judicial Proceedings
2-309.
(i) (1) The Sheriff of Cecil County shall receive a
salary of $12,500 and free lodging for himself and his
family at the jail or $1,500 per year. The Sheriff shall
appoint [[NOT LESS THAN nine]] 16 full-time deputy
sheriffs, one as chief deputy and one as investigator.
After the investigator has performed his duties, he shall
assume the duties of a deputy. The starting salary of
the chief deputy and investigator is $8,300]] $8,300
